New England Revolution Might Get Rajko Lekic After All; Silkeborg Director Does A 180

As we discussed, striker Rejko Lekic trained with the New England Revolution last week, during the international  break. Steve Nicol and the Revolution have been interested in signing Lekic for some time, but Silkeborg appeared unlikely to let him go. Later in the week, that position was clarified, and it seemed increasingly unlikely that Lekic would be coming to the Revs. Today, it appears that Silkeborg director Kent Madson has done a complete 180. Last week, Madson said that he was unwilling to let Lekic go because he didn’t have time to find a replacement. Now, it appears that the two clubs have a deal worked out.

Of course, that doesn’t mean this deal is done. Like any other transfer, there are all kinds of formalities that Lekic, Silkeborg, and the Revs have to deal with. The transfer has to be approved by the league and the player has to receive his work visa and international transfer certificate, none of which is a done deal at this point. However, it’s rare that those formalities are a major hangup, and we could end up seeing Lekic playing for the Revs after all.
