Brian Ching Out Of Training With Chest Injury

Houston Dynamo forward Brian Ching was held out of training today with a rib injury. Ching suffered the injury after colliding with Bouna Condoul in Saturday’s 1-1 draw versus New York Red Bulls, causing him to leave the match in the 39th minute. Injuries are nothing new to Ching, who has yet to play more than 25 games in a MLS season. The club reported that Ching underwent x-rays to determine the extent of the injury, but they have not elaborated further.

For the Dynamo, the wonder has to come if Brian Ching will ever return to being the player he once was. A former Golden Boot winner and USMNT regular, Ching has seen his form drop greatly in the past three years. With first round pick Will Bruin progressing, Ching’s spot in the line-up as a number nine seems to be fading. Expect Cam Weaver to fill in for Ching in the interim, pairing with Bruin to form a large, powerful strikeforce.
