FC Dallas Acquires Maykel Galindo In Trade With Chivas USA

FC Dallas have added to their striking corps today, bringing in the incredibly talented, but consistently injury hampered Cuban striker Maykel Galindo. Galindo has had a couple of great seasons for Chivas, but his injury problems combined with a new manager and philosophy meant he was surplus to requirements. As a result, Chivas were willing to take just a first round supplemental draft pick for Galindo, which is great value for Dallas. Though he might not have the speed he used to, when healthy, Galindo is still a serviceable player.

Galindo burst onto the scene with 12 goals in the 2008 MLS Season, a year where Chivas made the playoffs and Galindo was one of the stories of the year. Injuries limited him to 10 appearances in 2009 and 24 appearances last season, when he scored five goals. There’s no reason to believe that Galindo can’t be a solid option off the bench for Dallas, and that alone is easily worth a first round pick in the supplemental draft.
