MLS Rumors: Cristian Arrieta Set To Go On Trial With FC Dallas

Usually, when stuff isn’t absolutely done, I like to classify it as rumor. However, this one is definitely on the news side of rumor. It looks like former Philadelphia Union and Puerto Rico Islanders defender Cristian Arrieta is about to go on trial with FC Dallas. The reason this is hardly just a rumor and pretty concrete is that Arrieta’s agent tweeted it. Don’t you love the 21st century?!?

Arrieta didn’t have the greatest time in the world with Philly last season, but before that, he was one of the best players in the second division of US Soccer for two seasons. Before coming back over to the United States, where he was born, Arrieta spent the beginning of his professional career in Italy. The now 31 year old defender turned pro in 1997 and spent 10 years bouncing around different clubs in Italy before coming back to North America to play for the Islanders. While FC Dallas have plenty of numbers in defense, they lack someone with the experience of Arrieta, so it makes sense that they would be taking a look at him.

As a Union fan, I’m not to broken up to see him go, but I hope for the best for him in Dallas.
