Canadian International Andrew Ornoch On Trial With Toronto FC

News from Toronto FC’s official website tells us that TFC have taken Canadian international Andrew Ornoch on trial. Ornoch is a big center forward who has been attempting to make a career for himself over in Europe before going on trial with Toronto. He’s played in Hungary, Denmark, and Holland, and he played college soccer at the University of Detroit Mercy. He has represented Canada three times at international level.

Toronto lost O’Brien White and Mista in the offseason, so they’re in serious need of options up top. Prospect Nicolas Lindsay won’t be playing this year because of a serious injury, which leaves Toronto with one striker, Maicon Santos, signed to their active roster, though they have more in camp. One of those players is rookie draft pick Joao Plata, who at 5’3″ is obviously a much different player than the big, strong Ornoch.

Ornoch played in a training match against College of Charleston and is expected to appear for TFC at the Carolina Challenge Cup, where Toronto will play three games between March 5th and March 12th. I’ll be at their game this Saturday, so I should be able to give the TFC supporters a good idea of how Ornoch looks with the team.
