Saprissa Advance To CONCACAF Champions League Semi-Finals, Will Present Real Salt Lake With A Serious Test

On Thursday night, Saprissa of Costa Rica advanced to the Semi-Finals of the CONCACAF Champions League where they will face MLS side Real Salt Like. The Saprissa Stadium is a notoriously difficult place to play both for club sides in CONCACAF Champions League and for opposing national teams when they take on Costa Rica. Traveling to the Saprissa should present a unique challenge for RSL. But don’t take my word for it.

The following is an awesome twitter conversation involving Kyle Martino, a former MLS player and United States international, and the official twitter feed of Real Salt Lake.

If Real Salt Lake want to win CONCACAF Champions League to begin their quest to capture “The Quad” (thanks Denz), they’re going to have to deal with some serious hardships. We’ll have a preview looking and squad selection and tactics closer to the game, but we just wanted to share this little bit with you now to whet the palate for the match. RSL might have to deal with a seriously hostile environment the likes of which they’ve never seen before.
