Dominic Oduro Re-Joins Houston Dynamo

Though the speedy forward was not re-signed at the end of last season, after looking at their other options in training camp, the Houston Dynamo have opted to bring back Ghanaian Dominic Oduro for the 2011 MLS season. Often criticized for his lack of finishing prowess and poor decision making in the final third, Oduro is an incredibly dangerous player despite these obvious deficiencies due to his absolutely unbelievable straight-line speed. With the Dynamo littered with injuries and just generally playing poorly last season, Oduro was actually the team’s joint top scorer.

With Brian Ching healthy and rookie Will Bruin looking good in camp, Oduro’s opportunities will probably be limited this season. However, he gives the team a much different dynamic than the players already on the roster. Ching, Bruin, and Cameron Weaver are all tall target men who, while quality players, are limited by their lack of speed. At the very least, Oduro will give the Dynamo a change of pace player who plays in a completely different way from the forwards already on the roster.
