Chivas USA Get Right Winger Marcos Mondaini On Loan
According to reports from ESPN Los Angeles’s Scott French, Chivas USA have acquired Argentinean right winger Marcos Mondaini on loan from Uruguayan club CA Fenix. A product of Argentina’s famed Boca Juniors, Mondaini, 26, has been well traveled in recent years, landing most recently with Colombia’s Atletico Nacional after stints in Uruguay and Ecuador with Emelec, Barcelona SC, and Nacional.
Reports have Mondaini training with the club already, logging 29 minutes against DC United in a friendly on Friday. In the short term, Mondaini fills the need created by Sal Zizzo’s trade to Portland, giving a needed injection of pace to Chivas. With reports that newly acquired Tristan Bowen has been appearing as a winger for the Goats, Mondiani could provide needed cover and guidance for the young talent.
New coach Robin Fraser has seemed to favor a 4-1-4-1 formation, so look for the wingers to get forward and be an integral part of the attack, whether Mondiani, Bowen, or otherwise.
