Yes, This Chad Ochocinco Thing Is Real: He’s Going On Trial With Sporting Kansas City

Yep, it’s confirmed. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco is, indeed, trying out for a spot on the roster of Sporting Kansas City. There’s a rumor floating around that practice will be closed to the media when he arrives to emphasize that this is not purely a publicity stunt. And for everyone who just went “BS” inside their head (or out loud), think about it. Chad Ochocinco is, indeed, a world class athlete. He is insanely fast, insanely strong, 6’2″, and he has mad ups. If he is a remotely competent pick-up soccer player, he’s not exactly worthless as a target man. Think about how many players there are in MLS with no composure and no skill. Anyone else thinks he scores one of O’Brien White’s chances last night?

It’s very possible that Chad is arrogant and/or completely full of it when it comes to his own soccer skills. In fact, I would say that’s highly probable. But, from the Sporks’ perspective, if a world class natural athlete says he wants to try out for your team with no strings attached, how do you say no? Hopefully he has some touch and technique and he’s blasting down the flanks for Sporks in the future. I doubt it, but it would be beyond awesome.
