MLS announced two more international club friendlies today, as Ajax add Portland to their US tour on May 25th and Tim Howard’s Everton will play D.C. United at RFK stadium on July 23rd.

Dutch giants Ajax are already scheduled to play D.C. United on May 22nd as they kick off their first US tour in several years.

The presence of Howard in the Everton squad, amongst other factors, has made them a popular draw in the United States in the past. Here’s a quote from Tim Howard about coming to play D.C. at RFK Stadium:

“I’m really looking forward to playing at RFK again. It’s a stadium I know well and D.C. United is a club I know well. They’ve been successful in the States over the years and it will be great to play against them with Everton.”

These are probably only two of many summer friendlies that are likely to be announced in the coming month. Summer friendlies against European teams are always a fan favorite and a big financial draw for clubs and for the league in general, so MLS and their clubs will try to load up to the best of their ability.
