Seattle Sounders “The Trialist” Mystery Novella Solved: It’s Mauro Rosales

For a couple of weeks, rumors have floated around Seattle about a mystery trialist, training with the Seattle Sounders during their training camp in Florida. Sounders fans have speculated about the identity of this mystery man, but today we learned who he is, thanks to Joshua Mayers of The Seattle Times. The man…the myth…the legend…is Mauro Rosales. The skillful winger/second striker was most recently plying his trade at River Plate in Argentina. Before that, he played for Ajax Amsterdam, a club that he moved to after a successful start to his career in Argentina for Newell’s Old Boys.

The Seattle Sounders don’t have a particular need anywhere on the field, but a quality player who can play as either a winger or a second striker would be a welcome addition for any MLS team. It appeared that he was going to join Queretaro in the Mexican Primera Division ahead of the 2011 Clausura, but rumor has it he failed a medical. As a result, he never made an appearance for the White Roosters, which led to his trial with the Sounders.
