Sporting Kansas City Sign French Defender Aurelien Collin

It’s a move that’s been speculated for some time now, but Sporting Kansas City President Robb Heineman confirmed via twitter this morning that his club have signed French defender Aurelien Collin. Collin is currently finishing up a two year contract with Vitoria Setubal in Portugal and is expected to join up with the club in June when that contract expires. Here’s the tweet from Heineman confirming the signing.

It’s the international break, so I assume that’s why Collin has the time and permission to come to America to finalize whatever he has to do to get the deal done.

By the way, this signing is deserving of a hat tip to Andy Edwards of The Daily Wiz, who figured out that this transfer was about to go down back in December. With Jimmy Conrad skipping town and Shavar Thomas’s role in question with the team, Collin will provide some much needed depth in defense for the Sporks.
