Sporting Kansas City Ink Draft Pick Konrad Warzycha

As one of what should be many signings over the next few days, Sporting Kansas City have signed rookie midfielder Konrad Warzycha to their roster. However, Warzycha recently had surgery on his knee and will start the season on injured reserve. He looks set to miss six to eight months.

Warzycha is the son of Columbus Crew head coach Robert Warzycha and the Ohio native played four years of college soccer at Ohio State University. It’s hard to assess what his long term position or playing prospects are for the Sporks, seeing as he’s not going to be playing for a long time. Obviously, if Kansas City were willing to sign him to a contract despite the fact that he just had knee surgery, they must be pretty high on him. Warzycha was a first team all Big Ten selection last season in college, and he was selected in the third round of the MLS SuperDraft by Kansas City.
